Anxiety Treatment
Are your worries keeping you awake at night?
Do you play scenarios in your head and always end up thinking the worst could happen? Are you feeling on edge and frightened? Are you having trouble falling asleep? Do you avoid activities that you used to enjoy? Perhaps you are worried that your anxiety will show up uninvited and jeopardize your work, social, and family relationships.
Anxiety is sneaky and takes over without warning. If kept untreated, it will leave you scared and insecure and will drain the energy you need to have a fulfilling life. Anxiety can present itself in many ways. It can take hold of your thoughts and fill you with self-doubt and desperation. Perhaps you believe you are inadequate, unable to face your duties and obligations. You may feel isolated and trapped in your own joyless world. And the more time you spend on your anxious thoughts the stronger these thoughts can become making you believe they are not to be challenged. When anxiety takes over it can feel like you are out of breath, disoriented, your heart beats stronger and at times you can even feel like your life is ending. All these symptoms can leave you feeling unsafe, doubtful and scared to live, to grow, or to enjoy life.
Do you wish you could wake up in the morning feeling energized and ready to take on challenges? Are you ready to understand why you are so worried and what you could do to stop the doubt and fear from controlling your life? Do you want to feel confident enough to keep up with daily routines?
We all feel anxious at some point in our lives…
Anxiety is a common condition affecting 40 million adults in the U.S. each year (*). Anxiety can help us stay alert, adapt and keep us safe, but can also invade us with excessive fear and worrying about real, perceived or future threats. Sustained stress can trigger increased anxiety and hamper our ability to function well.
There is no single cause for anxiety. Genetic predisposition has been shown to play a role in many instances but is not the only cause. Anxiety can stem from significant issues (loss, grief or unresolved trauma) or it can also result from day to day conflict or frustrations (work and parenting demands or even social media).
Anxious people dwell on making the right decision, or even on taking the first step to action. You might be thinking it is time for you to look for support to manage your anxiety, but you are fearful of the process of anxiety therapy, the time it will take, or even the commitment it implies. Once your anxiety levels are down again, you might procrastinate and avoid deciding until anxiety comes back and takes you by surprise again.
Nowadays, society pressures us to “do something” all the time, and it is difficult to create space for us to just “be present” in the moment. We live stressful lives with high demands for us to show the best version of ourselves all the time. And anxiety treatment can help you feel your best version again.

By incorporating psychotherapy, one of the most used methods to treat anxiety, you can learn to manage the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that leave you feeling stuck so you can live a less stressful life. I will focus on helping you get a better understanding of your anxiety and learn to manage the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors associated with it. This focus allows me to personalize my approach to help you gain control of your anxiety.
Anxiety has a way of affecting all areas of our lives. If you only treat the symptom then we will not find the meaningful healing, we are looking for. I am trained from a systems framework perspective which means I will look into all the areas of your life that have been affected by anxiety. I am trained to see you not only as your individual self but to also how you relate to others and if anxiety is affecting your relationship dynamics. Learning about how you interact with others will also help me know how anxiety is affecting you. Sometimes I offer my clients the possibility to invite their family members or significant others into treatment. They can be helpful resources to help you implement your coping skills. It can also be helpful to include them in treatment if your anxiety is affecting the way you relate to them or your anxiety is triggered by the way they relate to you.
Even though we will look at the problem together, my goal is to help you using your best qualities to help you manage your anxiety. By looking at your strengths I can work with you to build the skills to fight anxiety and to remind you that you are more than your fears. I will help you notice all the other things that you are doing right, that bring you joy, and that make you proud.
I use a combination of approaches to guide my work in anxiety therapy: Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused therapy, and Narrative therapy.
CBT is beneficial to help you learn new ways to manage your anxiety. It provides you with coping skills that will help to challenge your anxious thoughts, understand anxious behaviors and process feelings associated with your anxiety. This helps you manage anxiety triggers ahead of time and learn new ways to respond to your anxiety.
Solution-Focused therapy does not look at the problem as much, but rather the times that you were able to function without anxiety. It helps you remember any previous solutions attempts that worked when you faced your anxiety. Helping you notice the times you were stronger than your anxiety will give you confidence to face it.
Narrative therapy is also more focused on the solutions that the problem. It will help you redefine yourself and change the narratives you have been telling yourself due to your anxiety. It helps you externalize your distressing thoughts and emotions and remember that you are more than just your anxious self. By attending to all the times that you were able to manage your anxiety your narrative will change to different one that includes all other aspects of yourself.
My training in systemic therapy allows me to see you in all areas of your life and how they are affected or triggered by your anxiety. As a systemic therapist if you would like I can also work with your other providers to ensure the best possible treatment.
I have worked with people struggling with anxiety in different settings—community clinics, partial hospitalizations units, home base programs and private practice. In my extensive experience as an anxiety therapist, I have seen that no matter how hopeless things may seem now there is a path to healing. You may find some relief just by having a safe space to share your concerns without judgement. With the right guidance and support you can improve your life.

Anxiety treatment is expensive and requires a time commitment.
Anxiety treatment requires time and commitment but many of my clients start to feel noticeable differences early on in the way they feel and manage their anxiety.
